Dr. Kayla Marmaros holds both a Master’s and Ph.D. in Mental Health Counseling, with a strong background in teaching, research, and clinical practice. Her training allows her to tailor treatment approaches to the unique needs of each individual, using evidence-based methods rooted in current psychological research.
Dr. Marmaros specializes in the treatment of anxiety and related disorders. She is a certified Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (CBT) through the Academy of Cognitive Therapy and uses CBT to address a wide range of mental health concerns. She is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Processing (EMDR) through EMDRIA for the treatment of trauma. Additional training includes Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), completed through Massachusetts General Hospital Psychiatry Academy, and specialized education in Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors (BFRBs), such as trichotillomania, through the TLC Virtual Training Institute.
Dr. Marmaros has also taught and mentored graduate students and counseling trainees at Pace University. Her research and academic contributions have been shared at professional conferences, including the New York Mental Health Counseling Association (NYMCHA) and the Association for Psychological Science (APS).
While experienced in working with children, Dr. Marmaros has developed a specialized focus on adolescents and young adults. In addition to her private practice work in New York and South Florida, she has presented at schools, agencies, and parent groups on topics related to mental health. She remains committed to promoting awareness, education, and compassionate care—both in the therapeutic context and in the broader community.
